Celtic’s Swoop For Former Liverpool Speedster Has Stalled

Celtic’s attempts to sign Bournemouth winger Jordon Ibe have stalled, according to the Football Insider. The Hoops were keen to sign the 23-year-old on loan but it is believed the midfielder’s wages proved a major stumbling block.

It may have been the case that Neil Lennon’s side ended their interest in the former England Under 21 international after they signed Southampton winger Mohamed Elyounoussi on loan last week.

With the Norwegian international now in the squad, Celtic have a number of wide options to choose from. Mikey Johnston and James Forrest started the Old Firm derby yesterday but the Scottish champions also have Marian Shved, Lewis Morgan and Scott Sinclair at their disposal.

Six wingers is probably already too many so the likelihood of signing Ibe before the transfer window closed was low. The former Liverpool player was said to be keen on reviving his career at Parkhead but he now looks destined to stay at Bournemouth.
