Centre Back Target Turns Down Two MLS Clubs As He Dreams Of Possible Celtic Move

Motherwell defender Declan Gallagher has rejected approaches from Portland Timbers and New York Red Bulls to stay in Scotland, according to reports.

One of the key motivations for Gallagher turning down a move to MLS is due to the fact that he is not willing to uproot his family after recently becoming a father.

Whether the desire to play for Celtic also played a role in the decision, it is not known. The Scotland international was heavily linked with a switch to Parkhead in the January transfer window and the 30-year-old is said to be very keen to play for the Scottish champions.

However, the Hoops never made an official offer for Gallagher and his contract situation means they are unlikely to make a move in the summer either.

The defender was originally set to be available on a free transfer but he has since had his contract extended automatically for an extra year by Motherwell.
