Club Ask Celtic To Double Their Bid After £5m Offer Is Rejected For Centre-Back

Aberdeen are demanding £10m for defender Scott McKenna, according to reports in the Scottish media.

Celtic are said to have had a £5m offer turned down by the Dons as they look to strengthen their centre-back options.

Derek McInnes’s side are reportedly not prepared to lower their valuation for McKenna and are under no pressure to sell this summer.

The Premiership club have previously rejected a £7m offer from Aston Villa for the Scottish international and it seems Celtic will have to exceed that amount to have a bid accepted.

McKenna is only 22 years of age but has established himself as a key first-team player for Aberdeen over the past two seasons.

At international level, he has already garnered 12 caps for Scotland, having made his debut in a 1-0 friendly defeat to Costa Rica back in March 2018.

McKenna played the full 90 minutes in both of Scotland’s Euro 2020 qualifiers earlier this month.
