Club Chairman Claims 8M Rated Celtic Target Could Switch Clubs As Soon As January

Maccabi Tel Aviv chairman Mitchell Goldhar has revealed that the Israeli club will consider selling Oscar Gloukh in January or at the end of the season.

Celtic were linked with a move for the 18-year-old over the weekend and, responding to the speculation, Goldhar said that his club won’t stand in the player’s way if he wants to leave:

“Gloukh is one of the best players who grew up here in our academy. He has abilities that remind us of the greatest of them all. He will continue with us a little longer. Maybe in January or at most in the summer he will progress.”

Gloukh is believed to be valued at around £8m by Maccabi Tel Aviv, which is a substantial figure for a player who has not even been capped by Israel’s senior side.

They could, though, be learning from mistakes that other Israeli clubs have made. The Hoops managed to secure the signature of Liel Abada for only £3.6m, which was a bargain considering what he has gone on to achieve over the past year.

Whether Celtic’s board would sanction a substantial bid to secure Gloukh’s services may depend on how highly the Hoops’ scouting department rate the teenager.
