“Definitely Not On Our Radar…” Postecoglou Speaks Out On Celtic’s Transfer Plans Following Recent Rumours

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou says the Hoops have not settled on their targets for the summer transfer window.

The likes of FC Volendam’s Xavier Mbuyamba, FC Luzern’s Ardon Jashari, Liverpool’s Leighton Clarkson and AEK Athens winger Levi Garcia have been linked but Postecoglou has emphatically denied that the club have made moves for these players:

“It’s a bit tricky at this point before the summer window because you are not really sure about potential departures as well. We’re ready to go and are doing plenty of work in the background. I can assure you anyone mentioned at the moment is definitely not on our radar because we are not at that stage yet.”

Postecoglou is usually very honest when it comes to transfers, although there is always a sense that he wants to keep his cards close to his chest so Celtic are not beaten to the signature for some of his key targets.

Assessing The Players That Celtic Have Been Linked With

Mbuyamba does seem to be the type of player that Postecoglou would be keen on. Having come through the academies at Barcelona and Chelsea, he’d definitely suit the Australian’s style of play.

The others, though, look more speculative. Clarkson has performed well during his loan spell at Aberdeen, and he has also been linked with Rangers, but we shall see if he actually emerges as a genuine target for the Hoops.

Jashari did go to the World Cup with Switzerland, albeit he had a limited role out in Qatar, while Garcia has been scoring plenty of goals in Greece this season, so it remains to be seen whether Celtic feel his form is simply a purple patch.
