Talks between Celtic and Steven Fletcher have broken down, according to reports. It had been claimed that the 33-year-old was in discussions about moving to Parkhead on a free transfer.
However, it is thought that the sides could not agree personal terms with the main sticking point being the length of the Scotland international’s contract.
Fans on Twitter are mostly glad that Fletcher will not be joining the Hoops:

Fletcher did have a decent campaign for Sheffield Wednesday last season, scoring 13 goals in 27 league appearances, but he is the wrong side of 30 and is hardly a long-term solution.
With negotiations for Peterborough’s Ivan Toney and West Ham’s Albian Ajeti also having reached an impasse, it looks as though Celtic are looking at other options.
Manchester City’s Lukas Nmecha is being considered as a possible alternative, although the German’s only first-team experience has been on less than impressive loan spells at Preston, Wolfsburg and Middlesbrough.
