Everton Step Up Chase For £30m Rated Celtic Marksman After Multiple Scouting Trips

Everton are the latest club to join in the pursuit of Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard, according to the Daily Mail. The newspaper claims scouts for the Toffees were present against Kilmarnock and FC Copenhagen last month.

The Frenchman has previously been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, but it appears that Carlo Ancelotti’s side are the frontrunners for the 22-year-old, along with Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City and Tottenham.

The Mail say that a bid in excess of £30m will be required to snap up Edouard as the France Under 21 international’s previous club Paris Saint-Germain have a significant sell-on clause.

However, considering that the forward has scored 26 goals in 44 appearances this season, most Celtic supporters would expect the player to fetch a lot more than that figure.

There have been claims in recent days that the Hoops are trying to tie down Edouard to a new contract with the promise of a sizeable wage increase and under the proviso that he stays until 2021. Whether that deal will be finalised, it remains to be seen.
