Celtic winger Mikey Johnston has joined Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes on loan until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old has not featured for the first team this campaign, having dropped down the pecking order under manager Ange Postecoglou.
Most supporters on Twitter feel that Johnston does have a lot of untapped potential but they feel a temporary move away from Celtic Park is probably the right decision so he can get the game time he needs:
Exactly what he needs. He's not a young boy anymore in football terms. This will be make or break for him

Great talent but should be looking at the build on raheem sterling and rattling the gym.

Hopefully a change of scenery will give his career the kick start it needs, worked for Charlie Mulgrew, Cal Mac and Antony Ralston, here’s hoping. There is a player in there, just been unfortunate with injuries at Celtic.

I really hope he succeeds, its frustrating that such a natural cant get back to his early promising form.

Johnston was already behind the likes of Jota, Liel Abada, Daizen Maeda and James Forrest in terms of Postecoglou’s wide options and the arrival of Sead Haksabanovic from Rubin Kazan meant his chances of getting any match action had reduced even further.
At this point, it is uncertain whether Johnston may have played his last game for the Hoops. If he does well out in Portugal, he could get himself a move elsewhere so we shall see how he performs over the course of the campaign.
