Four Things You Need To Know About Grady Diangana As Both Old Firm Rivals Enquire About The West Ham Ace

Outside of Celtic Park

Celtic and Rangers are set to battle it out for West Ham winger Grady Diangana this summer, according to reports in Scotland.

The two Old Firm clubs have already made enquiries to the Hammers about a possible loan deal ahead of the new season.

Diangana is currently plying his trade with West Brom, where he has had a successful loan spell, and the 22-year-old is said to be open to a move to Glasgow if he can’t get first-team football at his parent club next campaign

So what do we know about the winger? Press the next page as we go through four facts about the player.

Diangana came through West Ham’s famed academy system

The winger joined the Irons’ youth setup in 2010 at the age of just 12. He has played at every level in the academy, impressing his coaches with his speed and skill on the ball.

Diangana got his first start for the Under 23s before he turned 17 and he was handed his first professional contract at the end of the 2015/16 season.

He scored a brace on his senior debut for the Hammers

After two impressive seasons playing for the Under 23s, manager Manuel Pellegrini decided he was ready to make his first senior appearance in the EFL Cup tie against Macclesfield Town in September 2018.

Diangana made an immediate impression, scoring two goals as West Ham thrashed their lower league opponents 8-0.

Diangana has thrived since moving to West Brom

With game time expected to be limited at the start of last season, the decision was made to send the 22-year-old out on loan to Championship side West Brom to work under Slaven Bilic.

During his year at the Hawthorns, Diangana has scored seven goals and provided six assists in 29 appearances. The winger has impressed observers with his dribbling ability as well as the threat he poses in possession.

He could cost a lot of money if he isn’t available on loan

Diangana’s valuation is said to stand around the £15m to £20m mark. West Brom are believed to be prepared to sign the player on a permanent basis but West Ham may have other ideas.

If he were to be available on loan once again, it is thought that Celtic would stand a decent chance of securing his signature but a decision on that won’t happen until the Championship season comes to an end later this month.
