Frimpong Praises Brown For Helping Him Make Fine Start To Celtic Career

Celtic right-back Jeremie Frimpong has credited captain Scott Brown for helping him settle into his new club following his excellent man of the match display against Partick Thistle midweek.

It was actually the 18-year-old’s senior debut but he looked right at home as the Hoops came out 5-0 winners in the League Cup quarter-final. Frimpong said he was surprised how personable Brown was when he first arrived at the club:

“Everyone’s been really good, but Scott Brown has impressed me. He’s been great. I thought he was going to be a serious guy, but he jokes about and I really like that. Scott made sure he spoke to me, and everyone’s been really welcoming.”

“At first I was nervous, because you are going into a new environment. But everyone came up and spoke to me, so that helped me settle.”

Frimpong does have a serious battle on his hands if he wants to get more first-team football. Manager Neil Lennon has both Hatem Abd Elhamed and Moritz Bauer to choose from to start on the right-hand side of defence.

Kristoffer Ajer has even been employed in the position this campaign so there is fierce competition for places. Considering they were down to the bare bones in the position when Mikael Lustig left back in June, it’s a good problem for Lennon to have.
