Celtic have announced that goalkeeper Scott Bain has signed a new four-year contract with the club. The Scottish international’s previous deal was set to expire in 2022 but the Hoops have opted to extend the shot-stopper’s stay at Parkhead.
The 27-year-old has been relegated to second choice this season, with Fraser Forster having been brought in on loan from Southampton, but most supporters on Twitter think retaining the keeper’s services is a good idea:

Good news. Hope big Fraser stays too and wish Gordon all the best.

With Craig Gordon’s contract expiring in the summer, and uncertainty over whether Forster will join on a permanent deal, ensuring that Bain stays at the club looks like a sensible decision.
The goalkeeper does have a lot of experience, having made almost 300 appearances during his senior career. He is also reaching his prime and will be a reliable understudy for the rest of the season.
Bain dislocated his thumb back in August and has not played for the first team since the 4-3 defeat to Cluj that knocked Celtic out of the Champions League.
