Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Mikey Johnston will be sidelined “for a little while” after sustaining yet another injury.
The 22-year-old had to be substituted ten minutes into the second half of the 4-0 win over Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup on Sunday. He hadn’t had a good game before he was forced off the pitch, leaving many supporters on Twitter to wonder whether his time is finally up at Parkhead:
I feel sorry for the boy aswell but let's be serious, he looks like he's won a competition every time he plays.

I wish him well at whatever championship club he ends up at. He couldn’t even do it today. He’s had his chances.

Shame for the bhoy but he's no Celtic class.

It is believed that Postecoglou is a big admirer of Johnston’s but his poor fitness record and lack of end product mean he has been the subject of a lot of criticism.
Of course, he shouldn’t be hammered for simply being injury prone but many also think that the Scotland Under 21 international doesn’t have what it takes to be a regular starter for the club. Perhaps a fresh start somewhere else on loan would be the solution for Johnston.
