“I Think He Will Be Here For…” Frank McAvennie Predicts When Postecoglou Will Leave Celtic

Ex-Celtic star Frank McAvennie has backed Ange Postecoglou to stay at Parkhead for at least two more seasons.

The Australian’s success at the Scottish champions has attracted attention south of the border. Over the past six months, the likes of Wolves, Everton, Southampton and Leeds have all been mentioned as potential suitors but McAvennie believes that the 57-year-old has unfinished business with the Hoops:

“I think he has got principles and I really do think he is an honourable guy. I have spoken to him a couple of times and he seems like a really nice guy, he is what he says on the tin. He has got that authority and the players will run through brick walls for him.”

“I think he has got a project at Celtic. I think he will be here for a couple of years. Of course he is that good he is going to move but he will not go for a couple of years.”

Fans will be hoping that McAvennie turns out to be correct. Despite taking over a ramshackle squad in 2021, Postecoglou won the league title in his first season in charge, and he has also picked up two League Cups.

The big prize this season, though, will be to complete a famous treble. After Sunday’s win against Rangers, Celtic are already a third of the way to achieving that feat, and the goal now will be to maintain their push in the league, whilst negotiating through the next three rounds of the Scottish Cup.
