Is This Celtic Star The Best Player In The Scottish Premiership?

The Scottish Premiership is full of exciting talents this season – many of whom wouldn’t look out of place in the Premier League. Nevertheless, we think this Celtic superstar is the best of the bunch – and his name is Kyogo Furuhashi.

He’s far from the only top talent in the SPFL – the likes of Rangers’ James Tavernier and Ryan Kent spring to mind – but we feel that Furuhashi is a cut above the rest.

With an exceptional eye for goal and wonderful creative instincts, Furuhashi is the archetypal modern centre-forward. In many ways, he reminds us of Thierry Henry during his Arsenal heyday.

He has been on fire this season – so far, Furuhashi has scored 20 goals and has notched up three assists in Scottish Premiership matches. He is the division’s top scorer – three goals ahead of the second-top scorer, Lawrence Shankland (who plays for Hearts).

He’s strong, too – this is one of his most underrated attributes. His powerful frame allows him to execute excellent hold-up and link play, which he can use to create chances for his teammates.

On top of this, he’s also very skilful on the ball – his dribbling ability and sumptuous first touch are something to behold. Despite only being at the club for under two years, Furuhashi has already won three major trophies with the Bhoys.

Eyebrows were raised when Furuhashi was brought to the club by Ange Postecoglou – especially considering the fee involved (£4.5 million). However, the Celtic’s boss foray has paid off in spades so far.
