Arsenal manager Unai Emery says the club have only been targeting a centre-back, a winger and a midfielder this summer.
Speaking about his plans for the rest of the transfer window, the Gunners boss said:
“We are deciding how we can improve. At the beginning we were thinking to do one player to achieve the possibility to sign, but only if we can really, really improve this position.”
“It’s one centre back, one midfielder and one winger and we are going to [try] to do that.”
This has given some Celtic fans hope that Kieran Tierney won’t be leaving the Scottish champions:
Because it was never going to happen

Gonna state the obvious – would be great if KT stayed

Good

Two possibilities here.
The deal is either dead or the deals done.
He is saying there is currently no negotiations going on.

A few, though, feel the Hoops will agree to sell if Arsenal return with an acceptable bid:
The silence from kts side make me think hes going, the board as a buisness must take a big sale sadly

That what I’ve been thinking all along. Strange one. Maybe not wanting to have him in there in case of a sale

Celtic have so far rejected two bids for Tierney with the last one close to matching their reported £25m valuation.
The Hoops were, though, unhappy with the structure of the payments, and there has been no word about the Gunners coming back with a third offer which will satisfy their demands.
It also remains to be seen how Arsenal’s £72m bid for Lille’s Nicolas Pepe will affect their ability to finance a move for Tierney. Supporters will be keeping their finger’s crossed that they have run out of funds.
