AC Milan have made “contact” over signing Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer, according to MilanNews.it. The Italian website reports that the Norwegian is being considered as an alternative to Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren, who is also a target for the Rossoneri.
The Serie A giants are keen to strengthen their squad with younger talent ahead of the new season and have eyed Ajer as a possible candidate. However, it does appear that they have not made the Norwegian international their priority just yet.
It is believed that if a move for Lovren fails, Milan will then make a bid for Ajer before the end of the month. The Italian transfer window closes on August 18th.
The Celtic centre-back has improved immeasurably since his arrival from Start three years ago. After being converted from a midfielder into a centre-half, the 21-year-old has become a capable defender who is a regular first-team player.
