Italian International Makes Decision On Whether He Will Join Celtic

Juventus right-back Mattia De Sciglio has decided against making the switch to Celtic, according to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The reporter claimed that the Scottish champions made an audacious approach for the Italian international yesterday but the defender was “not convinced” that a move to Parkhead was right for him.

Considering Celtic have been looking for a left-back, their interest in De Sciglio is a surprise. The 27-year-old has been known to play off the left flank but he is right-footed and would certainly not be comfortable playing as a wingback in Neil Lennon’s 3-5-2 system.

Perhaps the Italian’s availability on loan tempted the Hoops into a move for the player but it seems that the defender won’t be making the switch to Scotland before the transfer window closes.

Celtic are thought to be looking at Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon and Charlton’s Alfie Doughty as other potential options as they look to strengthen at fullback.
