Celtic’s chances of re-signing Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster on loan during the January transfer window are pretty low, according to reports in the UK.
There has been talk that the Hoops could go back in for the 32-year-old in the New Year, with new number one Vasilis Barkas having failed to impress since his move from AEK Athens.
However, Forster’s salary, combined with the Saints needing a replacement, would make any loan move unlikely, and supporters on Twitter are pretty happy he won’t be coming back after snubbing a return in the summer:
It’s a no from me. Wasn’t interested in the summer now he is benched wants away. No thanks

Nah no for me he's a brilliant keeper but he made his decision in the summer to stay with Southampton ,even though he's not getting any games ,but good luck to him.

Surely can't write off Barkas after only a few months. The guy needs time to develop both on and off the park. The goalkeeper isn't the biggest problem we have.

For me his times past. Signed 4 times, 3 loans I think, and left 4 times. What does that say. Weve a decent young keeper in Barkas and he must get his chance.

No thanks!

Having a top-class keeper in between the sticks is absolutely vital if Celtic are to clinch ten league titles in a row this campaign so if Forster does become available for a reasonable price, it would be surprising if the Hoops don’t go back in for him.
Manager Neil Lennon is a massive fan of Forster so, even if supporters would be reluctant to see him return, another attempt to sign the Englishman cannot be ruled out.
