Journalist Believes Postecoglou Will Be “Pushing” For Celtic To Secure Deal For 29 Year Old Midfielder

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou will be pressing the board for Tom Rogic to get a contract extension, according to Graeme Bailey.

The freelance journalist thinks the 29-year-old warrants a new deal after having an excellent season under the guidance of Postecoglou:

“I think Celtic will be desperate to try to sit down and sort out his long-term future. They’ll want to keep him there because I think he’s got that little something extra that Celtic had been missing over the last 12 months. He’s been a big factor in their success and trying to win the title this year. If Postecoglou has got anything to do with it, he’ll be pushing Celtic to ensure they keep hold of Tom Rogic.”

Rogic’s contract at Celtic Park expires in 2023 so the Hoops don’t have to rush into negotiations, but the Australian international has made a big case for himself staying longer.

He has featured in 45 games so far this campaign, which is quite remarkable, considering his various injury problems over the past four to five years.

Rogic’s availability is not the only plus point either. He has had a big impact in games, with his six goals and 10 assists not telling the full story in terms of his influence on Postecoglou’s team.

While there will always be some concern about his fitness, the Australian has shown this season that he deserves to be handed a longer-term deal.
