Celtic have entered the race to sign Preston North End attacking midfielder Daniel Johnson, according to the Daily Mirror‘s Jonny Hulme.
The Jamaican has been heavily linked with a move to Old Firm rivals Rangers in recent weeks but Hulme says the Light Blues have only offered a transfer fee that would be paid in instalments, which is not to the English club’s liking:
Twist in the Daniel Johnson saga. Celtic join Rangers in the race to sign him. Got until Monday … Rangers as of yet only been offering money to Preston in instalments. They’re having none of it. #CelticFC #RangersFC #PNEFC

Reports suggest that Preston are holding out for around £4m to sell Johnson before the transfer window closes tomorrow. Last season, the 27-year-old bagged 12 goals and provided eight assists in 34 appearances for the Championship side so he would certainly add a different dimension to the Hoops’ midfield.
It does seem as though manager Neil Lennon is looking for reinforcements in the middle of the park, with the agent of Al Ahly attacking midfielder Mohamed Magdy having confirmed that the player has received an offer from Celtic.
