Journalist Warns “Important Details” Still Need To Be Worked On As 2.1M Celtic Transfer Reaches Crucial Stage

Celtic remain locked in negotiations to sign VVV Venlo striker Georgios Giakoumakis with “important details” still to be resolved, according to journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos.

The Editor in Chief of the Sportime newspaper in Greece provided an update on talks yesterday afternoon, saying VVV are not entirely happy with the Hoops’ proposal, while Werder Bremen remain in the running for the player’s signature:

Celtic’s bid for Giakoumakis was reported to be €2.5m (£2.1m) so it remains to be seen if the Scottish club will have to increase the offer or whether an agreement is within reach.

It would be a big coup if the 26-year-old does agree a move to the Hoops, having scored 29 goals in the Dutch Eredivisie last season. The Greek international is keen on leaving his current team after VVV were relegated last season, despite his best efforts, and the fact that Celtic have European football should help convince him to sign on the dotted line.
