Celtic are expected to confirm the permanent signing of Benfica winger Jota “later this week”, according to O Jogo.
The publication claims the Hoops are ready to trigger their option to buy the 23-year-old for €7.5m (£6.4m), with Benfica having included a substantial 25% sell-on clause as part of the deal.
Supporters have had to remain patient for news on Jota. There has been talk in the Portuguese media for a number of weeks that the player will sign for the Scottish champions on a permanent basis, but there has been no official announcement up until now.
A decision on Jota’s future will have to be made by the end of June, when his loan at Celtic expires, so things will come to a head very soon.
If Jota’s move is finally confirmed, the Portuguese winger will become the Hoops’ third signing of the summer after Cameron Carter-Vickers and Benjamin Siegrist.
