Lennon Admits He Is Keen To Secure Deal For 4.5M Rated Defender

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed he is already considering signing loanee Diego Laxalt on a permanent basis despite the Uruguayan only having recently arrived in Scotland.

The fullback has made four appearances since joining from AC Milan last month but Lennon says he has been an admirer of the defender for some time and he will look to hold talks with the player about his future:

“It’s early days. Listen, when you’ve got a player like that [you want to keep him]. It will probably come down to having discussions with him.”

Laxalt is valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt and considering Milan signed him for €14m back in 2018, the Hoops would probably have to pay somewhere in between the two figures in order to snap him up.

Whether that will actually happen, we shall have to wait and see. The 27-year-old has certainly had an excellent start to his time at Celtic Park, with his last performance against Lille on Thursday night his best so far. He will now need to keep his form up if he wants a permanent switch to the Scottish champions.
