Lennon Hints At Surprise Selection Decision Ahead Of Copenhagen Clash

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has suggested that Tom Rogic could well start the second leg of the Hoops’ Europa League tie against FC Copenhagen.

The Australian international started the 3-1 win over Kilmarnock and Lennon says he could reward the midfielder’s performance at the weekend with another start this evening:

“Tom’s got a great chance of playing. I thought he played really well against Kilmarnock at the weekend. He’’s a top player when he’s on form.”

“He’s just had an ongoing issue with his knee and with the form of some other players he’s found it difficult to get regular game time. He’s champing at the bit to play and he is certainly in our thoughts.”

Considering Ryan Christie is suspended tonight, Rogic’s inclusion was always a possibility, especially if Celtic persist with the 3-5-2 system.

The 27-year-old has struggled with a chronic knee injury this season but it appears he will be able to start his second game in the space of five days.

Rogic was substituted with 15 minutes to go on Saturday, and Lennon may have had the Copenhagen fixture in mind when taking him off.

The Australian’s creativity and attacking instincts could come in useful against the Danes, as Celtic look to put the tie to bed and progress to the last 16 of the Europa League.
