Lennon Issues Injury Update On Three Celtic Players Ahead Of Copenhagen Clash

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed that James Forrest should be back in contention to face FC Copenhagen on Thursday night.

The winger played the full 90 minutes in Denmark last week but was missing from the team that won 3-1 against Kilmarnock yesterday afternoon. Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham were also absent from the squad at the weekend.

The Hoops captain and his teammate both have calf strains but Lennon isn’t sure that either player will be ready to play in the Europa League tie later this week:

“Jamesy should be fine but we will have to wait and see with the other two. Olly has a bit of a calf strain that he has been playing with for the past two games and we didn’t want to risk him. But, I’m delighted with the guys who came in. I’m delighted with the quality and desire to get the ball back at times.”

Tom Rogic and Ryan Christie were the two players that started in place of the injured pair, while the change to 3-5-2 allowed Leigh Griffiths to come back into the side ahead of Forrest after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Fans will be hoping that Brown, in particular, is ready to play against Copenhagen, although Lennon’s comments do suggest it will be touch and go for the skipper.
