Lennon Opens Up On Why Celtic’s “Very Talented” £1.8m Signing Continues To Be Overlooked

Celtic winger Marian Shved’s absence from matchday squads this season has perplexed a lot of fans. The Ukrainian has shown promise when we have been given brief glimpses of him but he hasn’t played a single minute since the 6-0 win over Ross County back in October.

Manager Neil Lennon has gone on record to explain what the current situation is with the 22-year-old. He says the midfielder has struggled to adapt to life in Scotland and is not up to the standard required in training:

“He’s found it difficult, he’s struggled with the English, in training, he’s not getting at the level as the rest of them are. He’s still a very talented player, but he’s still taking a bit more time to adapt.”

With Shved seemingly unlikely to get any first-team action in the second half of the season, it is somewhat surprising that he wasn’t sent out on loan.

Whether Lennon believes the Ukrainian international can make an impact as the campaign wears on, we shall have to wait and see. With Mohamed Elyounoussi and Mikey Johnston the club’s only wide players, along with James Forrest, the Hoops could do with having another option on the wing.
