Lennon Provides Injury Update On Two Players Ahead Of Cluj Clash

Outside of Celtic Park

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has provided an update on the injuries to Hatem Abd Elhamed and Tom Rogic following the 7-0 rout of St Johnstone yesterday afternoon.

Abd Elhamed made his debut at Parkhead but had to be taken off after half-time with a dead leg. Lennon is hopeful that the Israeli will be fit to face CFR Cluj in Romania on Wednesday.:

“It’s a dead leg. We thought he could’ve gone another 10 or 15 minutes. We’re hoping (Elhamed) will be fit for Wednesday because I thought he was outstanding – the two full-backs gave us so much more width, power and pace.”

However, Tom Rogic’s return to match action looks to have been delayed even further. The Australian has been carrying an ankle injury since the Scottish Cup final in May.

He has missed pre-season in order to recover from the problem, but the decision has been made to have an injection to settle the injury down. Lennon confirmed that the player should be back on the training pitch shortly:

“(Rogic) had a steroid injection during the week. He had surgery on a ligament ankle injury from the cup final. So he’s letting things settle from the injection and is back working hard with the physios. Hopefully, he’ll be on the grass next week.”

It remains to be seen when Rogic will be fit to return to the first team, but fans will be hoping to see the 26-year-old back in action soon.
