Lennon Provides Positive Update On Key Celtic Star’s Fitness

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed that Kristoffer Ajer will be fit to face AIK in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Norwegian international has excelled playing in an unfamiliar right-back role this season but had to be substituted a few minutes from time during the win against Hearts yesterday, with many fearing he had sustained an injury:

However, Lennon has revealed that Ajer was only suffering from cramp during the closing stages of the match and was taken off as a precaution. He did admit, though, that the defender has taken a couple of other knocks recently:

“Kris had a bit of cramp and he has a knee problem. He also has a shoulder injury. Apart from that, he is okay! He should be fine for Thursday.”

The lack of clean sheets this season will be a major concern for the Scottish champions. They have managed just one shutout in the league so far, in the 7-0 win over St Johnstone on the opening day.

Christopher Jullien’s introduction as a first-team regular has certainly helped things, but the Hoops will be delighted that Ajer will be available for a difficult second leg in Sweden later this week.
