Lennon Speaks Out On Celtic Outcast’s Future After Rare Outing Against Partick

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is adamant that Scott Sinclair still has a future at the club, despite having rarely selected the 30-year-old so far this season.

The winger was given a rare outing in the 5-0 win against Partick Thistle in the League Cup last night, and when asked about whether the Englishman could still feature in his plans this campaign, Lennon replied:

“Scott Sinclair is still very much part of the squad. We have seen a good reaction from him. He isn’t a sulker and his body language in training is improving all the time. He came on and made a difference and scored and looked strong.”

As Lennon mentions, Sinclair came off the bench yesterday to score the fifth, with Vakoun Issouf Bayo, Tom Rogic and a double from Olivier Ntcham the other scorers in the rout.

With Mohamed Elyounnoussi, James Forrest, Mikey Johnston and Lewis Morgan also competing for places on the wings, it does seem unlikely that Sinclair will get more runouts in the league.

The wide man will probably have to settle for more game time in the cups, but his long term future looks in doubt, particularly as he wasn’t even selected to start with Celtic having made a number of changes for the game.
