HNK Gorica winger Kristijan Lovric will not be sold for less €4m (£3.4m) this summer, according to the Croatian club’s president Nenad Crnko.

No formal offers have been made for the 25-year-old so far, despite being heavily linked with Celtic, but Crnko says he has told the player that he may have to wait until the middle of August to get his move:

“We will not sell Lovric for less than four million euros! I told him that too, as well as not to expect an offer until mid-August. I also emphasized to him and [teammate] Aleksandar Jovicic that they should prove themselves in the first five or six games of the new season and a transfer is possible, although we may push someone out of the [door] sooner.”

Celtic will be hoping to seal a move for Lovric a lot quicker than that if, that is, the Scottish club are genuinely looking to snap up the Croatian international.

The Hoops have agreed deals to sign two wingers, Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada, in recent days so it remains to be seen whether manager Ange Postecoglou wants to bring in another wide player.

With Kristoffer Ajer on the brink of joining Brentford for an initial £13.5m, Lovric’s asking price should not prove to be a major obstacle, so we shall see how this story develops in the coming days.
