Michael Owen Gives His Reaction To Celtic’s Stunning Win In Rome

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has praised the performance of Celtic after the Hoops stunned Lazio by winning 2-1 in Rome yesterday evening.

Substitute Olivier Ntcham’s 95th winner gave the Scottish champions the three points they needed to progress through to the knockout rounds of the Europa League and Owen was quick to congratulate Neil Lennon’s side:

It was a hard-fought victory against Lazio. Both sides had clear cut chances to seal victory but Celtic kept on going to the end and were rewarded for their efforts.

Ntcham’s finish was as calm and collected as you are likely to see, chipping over the onrushing Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha into the net, triggering wild celebrations from the away support.

Credit has to go to Neil Lennon for guiding them to the last 32 of the Europa League but the result last night was very much down to the character and resolve of the team as a whole.
