New Transfer Twist As Club Appear To Reject Chance To Sign 6.1M Celtic Star

Monza have signed Marseille fullback Pol Lirola on loan, according to Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio.

The journalist had reported that the Serie A club were keen on snapping up Celtic’s Josip Juranovic but it seems as though they have opted to recruit Lirola instead:

It has been suggested that Juranovic has asked potential suitors to wait in order to see whether Manchester United would come to the negotiating table.

The Red Devils are believed to be in the market for a right-back but they would need to offload Aaron Wan-Bissaka before going after Juranovic.

Other teams, including Chelsea, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the Croatian international but it doesn’t appear any formal bids have been made so far this month.

Monza were reportedly prepared to loan Juranovic, with an option to buy for €7m (£6.1m), but that always seemed like a very low fee, considering there have been reports that Celtic are seeking around £17m for the defender.
