Nicholas Dismisses Celtic’s Chances Of Hiring Chelsea And Arsenal Legends

Former Celtic forward Charlie Nicholas thinks neither Frank Lampard nor Thierry Henry will be interested in taking the manager’s job at the Scottish club.

Lampard is currently fifth favourite to take over at Parkhead, while Henry is a rank outsider for the role, and Nicholas believes the Hoops will have to look elsewhere for their next head coach:

“I have seen Frank Lampard mentioned as a potential candidate, while Thierry Henry’s name has also been thrown into the mix, but I am not sure if either of them would be keen.”

Nicholas actually has three recommendations of his own; all of whom are pretty leftfield choices. Barcelona legend Xavi (who is currently managing Qatari side Al Sadd), former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso (currently in charge of Real Sociedad’s B team) and Anderlecht coach Vincent Kompany.

None of the three are considered to be realistic candidates for the Celtic job. At the moment, Paul Lambert is the bookies favourite, having been sacked by English League One side Ipswich Town yesterday, but the former Hoops midfielder has already ruled himself out from taking the job.
