Nicholas Makes Confident Prediction As Celtic Face Copenhagen

Charlie Nicholas expects Celtic to win against FC Copenhagen over the two legs of their Europa League last 32 tie. The Sky Sports pundit is still not fully convinced about the Hoops’ away form in European competitions but the two wins over Lazio in the group stages have made him more confident of a result in the first knockout round:

“I expect Celtic to go through over two legs and they are favourites. Celtic have improved in Europe, taking the scalps of Lazio twice was a big turning point for them. There is still vulnerability away from home in Europe, so it is how they manage that which will be the key.”

Nicholas has gone for a 1-1 draw in the first leg, which is not a bad result, with Copenhagen having to travel to Celtic Park for the second game. An away goal will be manager Neil Lennon’s main aim heading out to Denmark.

Considering Copenhagen’s poor form, though, and Celtic’s high confidence levels, there is a case to be made for the Scottish champions to be more ambitious.

A victory on Thursday will set them up perfectly for the second leg, and although you do expect the defence to come under pressure on Thursday night, the Bhoys have shown in recent weeks that they are able to grind out results when required.
