Nicholas Outlines How Many Signings Celtic Need In January

Ex-Celtic forward Charlie Nicholas thinks his former club need to sign up to three players in the January transfer window. The Sky Sports pundit says a forward should be the club’s top priority:

“Celtic will be looking to bring two or three players in. They probably need a striker who will have to settle for being a back-up to 24-goal Odsonne Edouard.”

“If there is a bit of stardust or somebody who can make a statement, then they should pull out all the stops, but there is no point in filling out the squad.”

Fans are hoping that the Hoops will use some of their financial muscle in the transfer market to strengthen certain parts of the squad to head off a title challenge from Rangers.

The defeat in the Old Firm derby on Sunday means their Glasgow rivals are just two points behind them in the table with a game in hand.

A new forward does appear to be the likeliest addition, with the likes of Andraz Sporar and Jordan Rhodes having been linked over the past few days.

A holding midfielder is also possible, with manager Neil Lennon having confirmed the club’s interest in Bnei Yehuda’s Ismaila Soro, while a bid for a centre-back can also not be ruled out.
