Celtic winger James Forrest did not have one of his best games against Rangers in the Old Firm derby yesterday. The 28-year-old was substituted on 68 minutes and replaced by Olivier Ntcham without having had an impact on the game.
Considering the Scottish international has scored 14 goals and provided 16 assists in 35 appearances this campaign, fans were expecting a lot more from the midfielder, and they were venting their frustration at the player after the match:
Not been the same since penning his new deal

Has anybody seen this man? Named James Forrest, around 5ft 7, last seen entering Celtic Park. pic.twitter.com/r5BEM4zoox

James Forrest this season is the equivalent to Sinclair after the invincibles season

Forrest and Frimpong don’t work together. Frimpong is effectively a winger who has the pace to defend but Forrest has nowhere to go

He needs dropped, hasn’t faced a challenge since @patrick7roberts left

Last year’s player of the year an imposter ? 13 assists and 14 goals so far this season. Poor yesterday like the full team were.

Wingers do rely a lot on supply but Rangers made it hard for Forrest to get much of the ball at Celtic Park yesterday. Consequently, it led to him having a quiet afternoon.
It’s unlikely that he’ll be dropped when the Hoops return after the winter break, though. They take on Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup in their next fixture and Forrest could well start that game in order to get his confidence levels back up.
