Celtic are said to be weighing up a loan offer for Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes in the January transfer window.
The Hoops are looking to sign a backup for Odsonne Edouard and the 29-year-old’s name is reportedly under consideration. Supporters on Twitter don’t think a move for the former Scotland international is a good idea:
I hope not he’s not good enough he got a hatrick last week but before that been rubbish for a long time

The last player we need. I see your point, but there are far far better players out there who can do his job and more, for a fraction of the price with a sell on fee included.

Eddie is our main man for the style we play. Thankfully he’s not been injured. Need a backup for Eddie. Even when on sing a poacher type like Griff wasn’t getting played ahead of Eddie. It’s a backup type of Eddie we seek I think. Or at least a goal scorer with size n aggression

Wouldn't take Rhodes at all. Good a few years ago but not now for me.

Go for Cosgrove & Declan Gallagher

He can’t play as loan striker though so pointless

A lot will probably depend on how much a loan deal would cost and whether Rhodes would be a suitable replacement. He has a very different style of play to Edouard and is unlikely to be suited to a lone striker role.
In any case, he may not be leaving his current club next month, going by the comments of Owls boss Garry Monk. Rhodes has started Wednesday’s last three games and his manager is happy with the striker’s contributions:
“I’ve been delighted for Jordan. He’s worked very hard, as I said after the Forest game, behind the scenes. He had a really positive week. It’s a player that, now, if we can get him to contribute and keep contributing to the level that he’s been showing, it’s a great asset to have, isn’t it?”
“It doesn’t alter anything that goes into January. We should be sitting this week, or the start of next week, with everyone involved in that process for January.”
Things could change if Wednesday do sign another striker in January and Rhodes could still be on the move. Whether he’ll end up at Celtic Park, we shall have to wait and see.
