Celtic are not interested in signing Chelsea attacking midfielder Ross Barkley, according to Football.Scotland‘s deputy editor Mark Hendry.
Respected sources, including CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs, believe that the Hoops have made an offer to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent basis, but Hendry says his insider at the club has told him otherwise:
Ross Barkley to #CelticFC rumours swirl but as far as my understanding goes, nothing has changed.
Checked it out last time and, dare I say, heard a giggle down the phone. If anything changes @Football_Scot has you covered.— Mark Hendry (@mhendry92) August 15, 2022
Considering Hendry has been mostly right with his reporting in regards to Celtic this summer, you would be inclined to believe him when it comes to the claims made about Barkley.
However, it isn’t just one erroneous story we are talking about here. Along with Jacobs, Fraser Fletcher and Simon Phillips have also stated that Celtic are interested in the former England international
Brighton, West Ham and Aston Villa have also been mentioned as potential suitors for Barkley, although a return to his former club, Everton, has seemingly been ruled out by Toffees boss Frank Lampard.
