Ornstein Confirms Bid Was Made For Celtic Ace Before Transfer Window Closed

Celtic did reject a bid from an unnamed club for Odsonne Edouard before the transfer window closed, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein:

It is believed the offer came from a Bundesliga side but the proposal was knocked back. It was thought to be the only official bid for the France Under 21 international during the summer.

A number of English Premier League clubs did make enquiries for Edouard, Ornstein claims, with Crystal Palace and Aston Villa believed to be the striker’s two main suitors, but Arsenal were not one of the teams to register their interest.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with the 22-year-old in recent months, and although they are fans of the player, they have a wealth of talented players up front, which meant the Frenchman was not a transfer priority.

Edouard missed the 2-0 defeat to Rangers at the weekend due to a positive COVID-19 test and manager Neil Lennon has confirmed he is unlikely to be ready to face AC Milan on Thursday night.
