Celtic have officially confirmed the appointment of Nick Hammond as the club’s new head of football operations. The Englishman has been working with the Hoops as a consultant since June but he has now taken up a formal role at the Scottish champions.
The former West Brom technical director helped to get a number of signings over the line in the summer, but he has also been tasked with overhauling the scouting network and improving player recruitment.
Supporters on Twitter are hopeful that Hammond will be a success in the role, and have already earmarked a few January signings that the club should go after:

Strengthening up front is likely to be the priority considering the reliance that Celtic have on Odsonne Edouard. Another central midfielder may also be looked at, with Motherwell’s David Turnbull and Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama being tipped as possible targets.
After a successful summer in the transfer market, Hoops fans will be confident that Hammond can do a job, but time will tell how he does over the long term.
