Celtic are reportedly leading a number of clubs in the race to sign Sunderland forward Charlie Wyke on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old has spent his entire career in the lower divisions of English football, and despite scoring 30 goals in all competitions for the Black Cats last season, fans on Twitter are very sceptical about a move for the striker:

Signing Wyke could simply be a way of adding depth to Celtic’s squad, rather than being lined up as Odsonne Edouard’s successor as some supporters fear, but even so, it is hardly an inspiring addition to the squad.
With no director of football and Ange Postecoglou having only been recently appointed by the club, it seems like the Hoops’ interest in Wyke is being led by the remaining members in the recruitment department.
Whether Postecoglou’s arrival will lead to a rethink in regards to transfer targets, it remains to be seen, but the Australian will undoubtedly have his own thoughts on who to sign.
