Postecoglou Declares Celtic Star The “Best” In The League After Hearts Victory

Carter-Vickers

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has labelled Cameron Carter-Vickers as the “best defender in the league” after Saturday’s 3-0 win over Hearts in the Scottish Cup.

The former Tottenham player has been in imperious form in recent weeks, and he was outstanding once again at the weekend, stopping Josh Ginelley from making an impact on the game, and getting on the scoresheet himself. Asked about Carter-Vickers’ performance after the match, Postecoglou said:

“He’s the best defender in the league. If anyone disputes that, I’m happy to put up an argument.”

£6m was a lot for the Hoops to pay but Carter-Vickers has been well worth the investment. Alongside Carl Starfelt, the pair have been the backbone of the club’s treble challenge, with Celtic having a nine-point lead over Rangers in the Scottish Premiership table.

Postecoglou’s men are also into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup after making it past Hearts, but their focus for now, though, will turn back to the league. Next up is a home game against Hibernian, which will be their last fixture before the international break.
