Postecoglou Handpicks Two Players He Wants Celtic To Sign Next After Starfelt

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou wants the Hoops to sign Shanghai Port midfielder Aaron Mooy and Manchester City defender Ko Itakura, according to reports in the Scottish media.

Despite clinching the signing of centre-back Carl Starfelt from Rubin Kazan earlier this week, Postecoglou remains woefully short of numbers in the first-team squad.

Mooy has worked with Postecoglou before when the Celtic boss was Australia’s head coach and Shanghai are believed to be open to the player moving back to Europe for personal reasons.

Things might not be as straightforward when it comes to Itakura. The Japanese international is available on loan but City are expected to demand a sizeable loan fee, due to the fact there are plenty of other suitors for the centre-half.

The 24-year-old was a regular starter for FC Groningen in the Eredivisie last season and he is currently at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics where he is representing the host nation.
