Postecoglou Provides Big Clue Over Whether Celtic Will Seal 6.5M Transfer

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has hinted that the club will look to sign Jota on a permanent basis from Benfica next summer.

The 22-year-old scored twice and provided an assist in the 4-2 win over Dundee yesterday, and asked about the player after the game, Postecoglou responded by saying:

“If he feels that this is the place for his future we’d be more than happy to keep him here but he’s got a pretty good head on his shoulders and he knows that the best way forward for him is to keep playing his football and the rest will take care of itself.”

Postecoglou seems to suggest that it is down to Jota to decide on whether he wants to stay but the decision will ultimately come down to the Hoops, who have an option to buy the Portuguese Under 21 international.

Under the terms of the loan deal, Celtic can pay £6.5m at the end of the season to make the deal permanent and his current form would suggest that the fee is well worth paying.

Since Jota arrived at Parkhead back at the end of August, the winger has had 12 goal involvements in only 14 matches, providing six assists and hitting the back of the net six times himself.
