Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has denied that the club are interested in Hammarby left-back Mohanad Jeahze.
Reports in both the Swedish and Scottish media have suggested that the Iraqi international is being targeted by the Hoops, with the defender said to be available for around £2m. However, Postecoglou has poured cold water on the claims:
“I don’t know the one you’re talking about. We haven’t had any discussions with any player about bringing them in right now. There’s nothing that will be concluded in the next week or so.”
Whether Postecoglou is just being coy or whether there is genuinely no interest in Jeahze, we shall see. Celtic’s recruitment department do watch a lot of players and they are unlikely to be in direct contact with the manager every time a scout is sent out to watch somebody.
It’s more than likely that Postecgolou has tasked his team to find him a new left-back to provide competition for Greg Taylor, with Jeahze having been looked at, but that doesn’t mean that the 25-year-old is a genuine target.
Celtic’s will likely push ahead with their transfer plans very soon with the domestic season now at an end.
