Premier League Side Have Sent Scouts To Watch 6.5M Celtic Ace In Action

Southampton have been sending scouts to watch Celtic winger Jota, according to reports in the English media.

The Portuguese midfielder has had a strong start to the season, having scored four goals and contributed five assists in 12 appearances, so it is not a surprise that the Saints are keeping an eye on his progress.

Jota joined the Hoops on a permanent basis from Benfica in the summer for £6.5m and it’s likely that the Scottish champions would only sell the player if they receive an offer that is significantly above the amount they paid for him.

Southampton are not expected to make a bid for the 23-year-old in the January transfer window but it is believed that they will continue to monitor his performances ahead of next summer.

Jota is not the only Celtic player who is coming under close scrutiny from teams south of the border. Crystal Palace have now reportedly joined a number of other Premier League sides pursuing Matt O’Riley. While the interest is unwelcome, it is still a testament to the success of the team since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager.
