ESPN‘s Bundesliga commentator Derek Rae thinks Red Bull Salzburg head coach Jesse Marsch may be using Celtic’s name to get himself a job in Germany.
The American did an interview with the BBC yesterday admitting that he was flattered to be linked with the Scottish champions, but Rae thinks there is an ulterior motive in play:
Don’t want to be a killjoy but Jesse Marsch is likely to be spoiled for choice soon. A domino effect situation in ?? means he could have the choice of some very big Bundesliga coaching jobs this summer backed by successful sporting divisions. Being linked with Celtic helps that.

When a fan disputed Rae’s interpretation of the interview, by challenging him on whether any of the teams interested in Marsch were bigger than Celtic, the commentator named two clubs that would be after him:
Gladbach and potentially Leipzig. Think again.

Marsch’s remarks have pushed the 47-year-old up to fourth favourite to become Celtic manager but it is probably wise to be sceptical about the chances of the American being appointed.
He is certainly a talented manager, and he would have the Hoops playing an exciting, expansive brand of attacking football, but there will be other teams that would also like to hire him. At this stage, you would still have to say it is an outside bet that he will be joining the Hoops.
