Pundit Makes Rodgers Comparison As He Backs Celtic To Make Move For Top South American Manager

Charlie Adam believes that Celtic do have a realistic chance of appointing former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as manager to replace Neil Lennon.

The former Rangers midfielder turned pundit thinks the Argentine could well be attracted to the job, in the same way as Brendan Rodgers, in order to build his reputation as a coach:

“Dermot Desmond can pull anything out the rabbit. He’s got enough money. Could Pochettino be the one? Could he throw Pochettino in the mix? Because he’s got no job. Come in, rebuild your career again and see what happens. What’s the difference with that and Brendan Rodgers coming to Celtic?”

It is a bit of a stretch from Adam, to be honest. Rodgers had a previous connection with the Hoops, having claimed to have grown up supporting the Scottish champions. Pochettino has no such link.

The 48-year-old has not been in work since leaving Spurs a year ago but it is believed he is waiting for the right opportunity to come along, either in England or on the continent.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have been touted as potential destinations for Pochettino so Adam’s suggestion that he could be open to a switch to Scotland does seem far fetched.
