Rae Suggests Celtic Could Pull Off “Remarkable” Coup By Snapping Up World Star

Former Rangers midfielder Alex Rae has revived rumours that Celtic could look to bring in Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer in January.

The former Manchester United and PSG striker has left MLS side LA Galaxy after two years in the States and is yet to confirm which club he will be signing for next. When asked about the possibility of the 38-year-old moving to Celtic Park, Rae replied:

“If Celtic pull it off it would be a remarkable one. In terms of marketing, he struggles for a bit of confidence though, Ibrahimovic, isn’t he a bit shy?! But in terms of what he would bring to the table, we see some of his goals for LA Galaxy.”

“I love the fact that, is it, Carlos Vela? the boy who he was getting embroiled in an argument with, he referred to him as a mini to a Rolls Royce, you know that type of thing. He would be brilliant for the game.”

Rae even suggested that Ibrahimovic wouldn’t even get in the first eleven due to the form of Odsonne Edouard:

“Look, Celtic play with one up top, where he would fit in, I don’t know – he wouldn’t get a game! He wouldn’t get a game! If he comes do you think big Edouard is going to sit on the bench?”

As it is the international break, you do get a lot of speculative stories and rumours coming out. Although Celtic are looking for a new striker, a move for Zlatan would be a non-starter.

The former Swedish international’s wages would be well beyond the reach of the Hoops, and it is very unlikely that he would take a pay cut in order to seal a move to the Scottish champions.
