REPORT: Celtic Prepared To Include Release Clause If 40M Rated Star Signs New Deal

Celtic are willing to accept a release clause in Odsonne Edouard’s new contract if he signs on the dotted line, according to the Football Insider.

It is believed that the Hoops have been locked in talks with the Frenchman’s representatives for a while but the main bone of contention has been whether to include a buyout fee.

Edouard reportedly wants to have the freedom to leave next summer once the Scottish champions seal ten league titles in a row, and he doesn’t want negotiations to be drawn out over his potential departure.

Leicester, Everton and Leeds are said to be scouting the France Under 21 international, with the likes of Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Aston Villa also thought to be keen.

However, Celtic may demand as much as £40m, which could put off a lot of potential suitors so Edouard wants a release clause included so a club can trigger it if they want to snap him up.

The 22-year-old is also in line for a major increase in his salary, to make him the Scottish club’s highest earner.
